Safe residential environments

First Zion works to maintain residences that provide safety and basic comfort and follow applicable building, fire, life-safety, and environmental requirements.

• Working smoke and carbon-monoxide detection and other required safety devices
• Fire, severe-weather, evacuation, and disaster-preparedness procedures
• Staff guidance and drills appropriate to the home and individual support needs
• Prompt response to hazards, maintenance issues, and unsafe conditions

Health and medication support

Medical services and medication administration or supervision are coordinated only within authorized plans and applicable Illinois professional and medication-administration requirements. Individuals or guardians retain applicable choices concerning physicians, dentists, and other professionals.

Individualized planning

Emergency and health supports should reflect each person’s assessed needs, communication preferences, mobility, decision-making rights, and Personal Plan. Emergency information is reviewed and updated through the appropriate service process.

Report a concern

Report a non-emergency safety or maintenance concern to First Zion staff immediately. Suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation must follow the separate reporting policy and should not be submitted only through a website form.
